SALISBURY — With a round of 26-over-par 314 for its low four individuals, the Barton College women’s golf team occupied the 13th spot among 18 teams following Monday’s opening round of the Patsy Rendleman Invitational at the Country Club of Salisbury.
Junior Clare McMahon paced the Lady Bulldogs with a round of 77 over the par-72, 5,973-yard layout. Senior Sydney Turner carded a 78.
Individually, McMahon is tied for 32nd, while Turner owns a share of the 37th spot.
Other Barton scores were Shalie Williams with a 79, Kate Hawkins with an 80 and Kelsey Woodall with an 85.
Limestone (South Carolina) College, No. 19-ranked in NCAA Division II, leads with a 3-under 285. Deadlocked for second at 292 are Lenoir-Rhyne and UNC Pembroke.
Also competing from Conference Carolinas along with Barton and Limestone are University of Mount Olive, tied for eighth at 309; North Greenville, 15th at 321; Belmont Abbey, 16th at 322; and King, 17th at 333.
The individual leader is Lenoir-Rhyne’s Abbey Hartsell with a 69.
The tournament’s final round is set for Tuesday.
