Tuesday marked the first day of school for Wilson Preparatory Academy, 2755 Tilghman Road.
Roughly 850 students are enrolled in grades K-12. The 2018-19 year marks Wilson Prep’s inaugural 12th-grade class.
“We had orientation last week and parents and scholars are ready to go,” Daryl M. Woodard, the school’s founder and executive director, said Monday. “Teachers and administration are already reported in and will be excited to begin the new school year.”
Also new to WPA is the new athletic complex being built just behind the school. The complex is set to be complete in two months.
“We will offer track and field, soccer, pole vault, softball, baseball and an eight-lane polyurethane track, volleyball for our scholars,” Woodard said. “Last year we had a great year in sports and we plan for greater this year.”
