Daniel family reunion planned

BLACK CREEK — Descendants of the late James and Elaphair Daniel will hold a family reunion at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 24 at the Black Creek Community Building on Privett Street. Attendees are asked to bring a picnic lunch.

Literacy clinic held Tuesday

Positive Change for Youth is offering a summer reading comprehension literacy clinic to help second-, third- and fourth-grade students with reading difficulties improve their skills for the next school year.

The program will be held 3:30 - 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 26. It's scheduled each Tuesday and Wednesday through July 17 at Positive Change, 1502-A Nash St. N. For more information, call 252-206-7002.

Fatigue support group to meet

The chronic fatigue syndrome support group will meet from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 27 in the conference room at the Wilson County Public Library, 249 Nash St. Organizers ask that attendees do not wear any perfume.

Church holding Emma Bailey benefit

SPRING HOPE — Holly Grove Baptist Church, 1640 Holly Road, is holding a pork loin plate sale fundraiser for Southern Nash High School class of 2018 president Emma Bailey from 2-7 p.m. Saturday, June 30. 

Plates are $8 each and organizers have set a goal of selling 1,000 tickets. Proceeds will help defray medical expenses for Bailey, who suffered spinal cord damage following a May 25 car crash. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Spring Hope Chamber of Commerce office at 252-478-1919. For more information, call the church at 252-478-4197. 

Breastfeeding group plans meeting

Hope Seekers Nar-Anon to meet

NASHVILLE — The Hope Seekers, a Nar-Anon support group for those affected by someone else's addiction, will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 3 at Nashville United Methodist Church, 209 E. Washington St.

Alumni schedule scholarship dance

The Williamson-Springfield Alumni Association's annual scholarship dance will be held 9 p.m. - 1:30 a.m. Saturday, July 7 at Wedgewood Country Club on Old Stantonsburg Road. This is a BYOB event with a semi-formal dress code.

Church to hold literacy training

An Augustine Literacy training session will be held July 16 -27 at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church. This volunteer program's mission is to improve the reading, writing and spelling abilities of low-income children who struggle with literacy skills.
