Dr. Jonathon G. Dewald has joined the Wilson Physician Services team, Wilson Medical Center has announced.
Dewald is a board-certified internal medicine physician and has been practicing medicine in Wilson since July 1984 when he joined Carolina Clinic, which eventually became Wilson Carolina Medicine Clinic. Dewald became an independent practitioner upon the dissolution of the clinic and has been on active staff at Wilson Medical Center and serving patients in Wilson County for nearly 34 years.
He specializes in the prevention and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses in adults.
Dewald received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta and completed his residency in internal medicine at Eugene Talmadge Memorial Hospital (now Augusta University Health Medical Center). He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians.
Dewald was president of the medical staff at Wilson Medical Center from 2007-08 and has also served on the hospital board of trustees and the Healthcare Foundation of Wilson board of directors.
He currently resides in Wilson County, where he raised his children who now serve in the Navy and the Marines. He enjoys photography, teaching (previous instructor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine) and visiting national and state parks.
