MIDDLE SCHOOL ROUNDUP

Toisnot defeated visiting Elm City 38-28 in girls basketball action, moving the Lady Hawks to 4-2 on the season.

Mesha Strickland’s 10 points led the Lady Vikings (2-4), who will host South Edgecombe on Thursday.

No scoring information was provided for Toisnot.

Atkinson powers Hawks past Wildcats

Kyshon Atkinson netted 18 points to help his Toisnot boys basketball team to a 56-33 defeat of Springfield on Tuesday.

Devontay Thomas tallied 12 points, four rebounds and two assists for the Hawks, who climbed to 3-2. Demari Daniels contributed six points and six rebounds for Toisnot while Atkinson added three rebounds, three steals and an assist.

No statistics were provided for the Wildcats, who fell to 1-4.

Wilson Prep thumps Southern Wake

HOLLY SPRINGS — Hunter Waddell had 16 points to lead the Wilson Prep boys basketball team to a 39-16 romp at Southern Wake on Tuesday.

Micah Buck had nine points and Markus Rhudy added eight points for the Tigers.

Lady Tigers fall at SWA

HOLLY SPRINGS — The Wilson Prep girls basketball team suffered a 26-12 setback Tuesday at Southern Wake Academy.

Emma Etheridge netted eight points to lead the Lady Tigers.

Springfield and Darden split

The Springfield girls won 24-21 at Darden in the first game of the basketball doubleheader Wednesday while the Darden boys claimed the second game 47-34.

No further details were provided.

Springfield will play at Speight on Thursday.
