Police have arrested a Lucama man in connection to an April armed robbery in Wilson.

Officials responded to the Jiffy Mart at 111 Hines St. on April 1 shortly before 9:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they spoke to a 29-year-old Greenville woman who told police she was robbed by two people, according to Sgt. Steve Stroud.

The woman told police she was giving a ride to a known acquaintance, 29-year-old Malcolm L. Best, and another person she didn’t know.

Police said the victim told officers Best acted as if he had a weapon and demanded money from her when they were in the area of Park Drive and Mercer Street.

Best and the other person ran off toward Mercer Street, officials said. The woman left for help. Police said they obtained an arrest warrant for Best on the night of the robbery.

On July 2, Best was served with warrants and arrested in Pitt County, officials said.

Best is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon. He received a $25,000 secured bond.

Police ask anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the Wilson Police Department at 252-399-2323 or Crime Stoppers at 252-243-2255.
