Keith Merrick has been named market president and senior business banking manager for Wells Fargo’s Wilson and Rocky Mount markets, company officials announced Tuesday.

Merrick oversees a territory including Wilson, Nash and Edgecombe counties and will be working out of Wells Fargo offices in Wilson and Rocky Mount.

“As the economy continues to improve, we are pleased to have Keith leading our seasoned team of bankers in Wilson, Nash and Edgecombe counties to support the business community’s growth,” Jim Foster, business banking manager for Wells Fargo in northeastern North Carolina, said in a release.

Merrick recently served as chief financial officer for S.T. Wooten Corp. in Wilson and previously was a commercial banking manager for First Union Bank, a predecessor of Wells Fargo. He has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry and has served as chairman of Wells Fargo’s board of advisers in Wilson since 2006.

“I look forward to leading a great team of experienced business bankers serving Wilson, Nash and Edgecombe counties,” said Merrick. “Fortunately, that team includes Tammy Jones, who has great experience in working with our customers in this market. The Wells Fargo team shares a common goal of fully supporting our business clients, and we are pleased to offer products and services that will not only meet, but exceed their expectations.”

Merrick graduated from Texas A&M University, received a master’s degree from the University of Missouri and is a North Carolina certified public accountant. He serves as vice chairman of the Wilson Economic Development Commission and is a member of the Barton College endowment advisory board.
