The Elm City volleyball team posted three wins during the week to boost its record to 7-2.
The Lady Vikings turned back Speight 25-18, 25-14, 25-20 on Wednesday. In a doubleheader at South Edgecombe on Monday, Elm City prevailed 25-18, 25-12 in the first match and claimed the second outcome at 25-8, 25-16.
Against Speight, the Lady Vikings were sparked by Reagan Nelson with 12 aces. Mesha Strickland and Avery Briley each served for six aces. Morgan Harold and Avery Lentz set the pace with five kills each, while Kameron Mullin came up with seven digs.
Nelson responded with 10 kills against South Edgecombe in the opener. Kelsey Miller added three aces, a dig and two kills.
In the second match, Elm City’s Mikayla Blower served for nine aces. Briley and Mallory Jenkins each delivered four aces.
Toisnot shuts out Darden in pair
German Arroyo scored a goal in each match as the Toisnot boys soccer team claimed a doubleheader from Darden by 1-0 and 5-0 scores on Wednesday.
While Arroyo accounted for the only goal in the first match, Johnathan Sanchez collected a hat trick (three goals) in the second match. Cameron Small also netted a goal.
Lady Hawks collect first two victories
The Toisnot volleyball team notched its first wins of the season by 25-8, 25-9 and 25-5, 25-7 margins against Darden on Wednesday.
The Lady Hawks’ Lanie Jinks served for 13 consecutive points in the first set of the opening match. Jalia Daniels responded with 10 straight points in the second set. Ann Thorne Webb served for 12 points in each match.
Toisnot welcomes South Edgecombe on Monday at 4:15 p.m.
WPA falls 2-0 to Thales-Rolesville
ROLESVILLE — Visiting Wilson Preparatory Academy and Thales-Rolesville waged a scoreless battle for 47 minutes before Thales-Rolesville emerged with a 2-0 boys soccer win Tuesday.
Thales-Rolseville managed a goal in each of the 48th and 52nd minutes.
Coleton Ellington cranked the only shot for the Tigers and WPA goalkeeper Christian Bulluck notched 10 saves.
Lady Chargers defeat Wayne Christian
Chloe Villaverde finished with nine service points to lead the Wilson Christian volleyball team to a 25-14, 25-11 win over Raleigh Christian on Tuesday night.
WCA will host Raleigh Christian in its season finale Friday afternoon.
