Senior Hunter Perry was a major part of a defensive effort for his Southern Nash High varsity football team that overwhelmed visiting Fayetteville Westover on Friday night, making him this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.

From his inside linebacker spot, Hunter rang up four tackles, including a sack, as the Firebirds crushed Westover 76-12 in the first round of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 3-A playoffs. Southern Nash held the Wolverines to just 93 offensive yards.

On the season, Hunter leads the Firebirds in tackles (69), tackles for loss (22.5) and sacks (13.5).

The son of Lori and Joey Perry of Spring Hope, Hunter has a 4.26 weighted GPA at Southern Nash, where he takes honors courses. He is a member of the school’s BETA Club and has played varsity baseball the past three years.
